IU has gained a player and lost a manager for the rest of the season.
IU Coach Tom Crean announced Friday that Jackson Tharp, a manager for the Hoosiers since the 2012-2013 season, will now be playing for the rest of the season.
Tharp is 6-foot-4 forward, according to iuhoosiers.com, and will begin playing for the Hoosiers immediately.
Crean informed the rest of the Hoosiers of Tharp’s addition at the conclusion of Friday night’s practice in preparation for Saturday’s game at Minnesota.
Tharp played basketball at Zionsville High School, where he earned All-Hoosier Crossroads Classic honors as a junior and senior.
“Jackson has been an outstanding contributor to our program on many levels,” Crean said. “He does a great job for us in practice, and with the injuries we have had, it allows us to add someone who is with us every day and can make a seamless transition to our roster.”
