IU sophomore Daniel Kuhn named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week

IU sophomore middle distance runner Daniel Kuhn was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, making this the second time in three weeks.

Kuhn competed at the Rod McCravy Memorial last weekend. He finished second in the 800 meter run, but his time of 1:48.13 set a new school record, and currently ranks third in the country this year. He also ran in the Distance Medley Relay, which IU won. The Hoosiers’ time of 9:41.10 in the Medley is currently the top time in the nation.

“His demeanor is such that it makes these high level performances things that he really takes in stride,” IU Coach Ron Helmer said. “He doesn’t get overly anxious, he doesn’t get overly impressed with himself when he does something good. He’s got very high goals.”

Next weekend, the Hoosiers will be back in action at the Gladstein Fieldhouse for the IU Relays.
