Kuhn sets school record in 800 meter run

While the majority of IU Track and Field competed at the Gladstein Invitational last weekend, several team members were sent to the Rod McCravy Memorial in Kentucky, including, most notably, sophomore middle distance runner Daniel Kuhn.

On Saturday, Kuhn finished second in the 800 meter run. His 1:48.13 is a new school record, currently the top time in the Big Ten this season and the third best in the country. IU Coach Ron Helmer praised Kuhn’s talent, focus and demeanor.

“More than anybody I’ve had for a while, he really trusts what we’re doing training-wise, and he’s learning to understand why we do what we do training-wise,” Helmer said. “When you do that, you’re going to get some good work done during the week, and on the weekends, you’re always going to look good.”

Next weekend, the Hoosiers will compete in the IU Relays at the Gladstein Fieldhouse.
