IU jumps in both AP and Coaches Polls

Freshman center Thomas Bryant celebrates during the game against Purdue on Saturday at Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers won 77-73.

From IDS reports

After two wins at home, including one against rival Purdue, the Hoosiers jumped in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Polls.

IU moved up four spots in the AP Poll to No. 18 and up six spots to No. 15 in the Coaches Poll.

This came after a week when the Hoosiers beat Purdue, which is now ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll and No. 19 in the Coaches Poll, and unranked Nebraska.

IU’s ranking in the AP Poll is its highest since the week of the Maui Invitational in November. IU went 1-2 in the Invitational and subsequently dropped out of the poll.

IU’s ranking in the Coaches Poll is also its highest since the week of the Maui Invitational.

The Hoosiers are the fourth highest of five teams in both the AP and Coaches Poll, ranking ahead of Purdue in both.

The Hoosiers play once this week against unranked Illinois in Champaign,
Illinois.
