IU falls to Cornell in close match

No. 58 IU was close to breaking its losing streak in New York, but suffered a narrow 4-3 defeat to No. 65 Cornell.

Cornell got on the scoreboard first, taking all three doubles matches before IU senior Sam Monette won at No. 1 singles, defeating David Volfson 6-3, 7-5.

Sophomore Raheel Manji started a late IU rally when he beat Colin Sinclair 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. The Hoosiers tied the score when junior Matthew McCoy won the No. 3 singles point, defeating Bernando Caseres Rosa 6-3, 6-2.

Cornell’s Karlo Lozic got the clincher when he beat freshman Antonio Cembellin, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 6 singles.
