After being named Big Ten Coach of the Year on the women’s side, IU Coach Ray Looze was awarded the same honor for the men on Tuesday afternoon.
Looze becomes the first Big Ten coach in history to win the award for both programs in the same season.
Last weekend, the men’s program came from behind to finish in ninth place for its fourth top-10 NCAA championship finish in the last five years. The Hoosiers finished with 180.5 points.
IU also finished ahead of Michigan, the Big Ten champion, making the Hoosiers the top-Big Ten team in the event for the first time since 1978.
In addition, IU earned 28 All-American Honors at NCAA’s.
This is the sixth time Looze has received this accolade, totaling four on the men’s side and adding two for the women’s team.
The men’s program finished second at Big Tens as well, and has an overall record of 8-7 for the season. Some of the program’s top wins this year were against Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Louisville.
