IU women's basketball to play NC State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Sophomore guard Tyra Buss goes up to the basket to attempt a layup. Buss led in scoring with 27 points against Minnesota. The Hoosiers beat Minnesota 93-79 Thursday at Assembly Hall.

Indiana will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, on Dec. 1 to play NC State in the 10th annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge, IU Athletics announced in a press release Wednesday morning.

IU’s overall record in the challenge is 6-3, including four consecutive victories against Clemson, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Georgia Tech.

The matchup will be the fourth contest all-time between the two teams. The Hoosiers finished last season fourth in the Big Ten with an overall record of 21-12, while the Wolfpack finished fifth in the ACC at 20-11.

“NC State is a great matchup for us in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge,” IU Coach Teri Moren said in the release. “They return the core of their lineup from a 20-win team, so it will be a challenging game for us. This is another top-level opponent that will help prepare us for Big Ten play.”

While NC State returns the majority of its starting lineup, IU returns its entire starting lineup, graduating one bench player, forward Lyndsay Leikem. The Hoosiers finished undefeated at 14-0 inside Assembly Hall last season and with a 7-12 record outside of Bloomington.
