IU alum Stephen Houston signs with Ravens

IU v. Minnesota Football

Former IU running back Stephen Houston was signed by the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday.

After two Baltimore running backs suffered early training camp injuries, Houston was brought in to alleviate the work load on the Ravens’ remaining running backs.

“We just couldn’t wait any longer,” Baltimore Coach John Harbaugh said in a Baltimore press conference. “We need the running back. We need the bodies out there practicing.”

Houston ran for 2,304 yards and 25 touchdowns in three years at IU and has played for the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Houston also served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for IU Basketball.

Houston, Tevin Coleman and Jordan Howard are all former IU running backs currently on NFL rosters.

Devine Redding — IU’s anticipated starting running back for the 2016 season — has played with all of them.
