Four former IU football players from the 2015 team made the cut and are on the 53-man rosters for their respective NFL teams.
Quarterback Nate Sudfeld of the Washington Redskins, running back Jordan Howard of the Chicago Bears and offensive lineman Jason Spriggs of the Green Bay Packers were all drafted by their respective organizations, while defensive lineman Darius Latham of the Oakland Raiders made his team after signing as an undrafted free agent.
Sudfeld, a sixth-round selection, threw for two touchdowns and no interceptions in his preseason appearances. He earned a start in the Redskins’ final preseason game Aug. 31 and played all four quarters as Washington defeated Tampa Bay 20-13.
Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy are ahead of Sudfeld on the Washington depth chart.
Howard, drafted in the fifth round, consistently impressed in practice and closed out the preseason with 107 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries in the 21-7 win against Cleveland. He also caught two balls for 33 yards.
Spriggs, selected in the second round, helped open holes for a Green Bay rushing attack that found success week in and week out, while Latham continually pushed into the backfield and closed out his preseason with a strong performance that solidified his place in the 53-man roster.
