The IU School of Global and International Studies is now offering the Peace Corps Prep Program, according to a Sept. 8 press release.
The Peace Corps added IU to a list of more than 25 other institutions that have this program.
The program is part of the Global Service and Peace Corps Prep Certificate, which is part of the Department of International Studies. Sophomores, juniors and seniors can enroll in the program.
The 25-credit hour program includes courses on service-learning, cultural competency and global affairs.
The credit hours also include foreign language expertise and a global service capstone project.
The program focuses on leadership development and international engagement, according to the release.
IU has ranked in the top volunteer-producing colleges and universities for the Peace Corps.
IU is currently ranked at No. 7 on the list, up 13 spots from previous years.
“The Peace Corps Prep Program showcases the commitment of our school to prepare globally minded students, able to collaborate and change the world through their actions,” SGIS Dean Lee Feinstein said in the release.
