Former IU guard signs with Pacers

Redshirt senior Nick Zeisloft celebrates during the NCAA Tournament game against Chattanooga on Thursday at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. The Hoosiers won 99-74.

IU alumnus Nick Zeisloft has signed a contract with the Indiana Pacers, the team announced Thursday.

According to Scott Agness of Vigilant Sports the former Hoosier signed a one-year, rookie minimum level deal with $25,000 guaranteed.

The one-time Illinois State transfer averaged 6.6 points per game and shot 43.2 percent from beyond the arc during his two seasons at IU.

The Dallas Mavericks were the only team that Ziesloft worked out for before the draft. He did not compete in any pre-draft workouts for the Pacers and after going undrafted, didn’t partake in any summer league action around the NBA.

With Zeisloft remaining in Indiana and signing with the Pacers, that now means that three players from last years Big Ten championship team have now signed free agent deals. Yogi Ferrel inked a deal with the Brooklyn Nets while Troy Williams played for the Phoenix Suns in the summer league but ended up signing with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Zeisloft will begin training camp with the team starting on Sept. 27. The Pacers currently have 19 players under contract and can have a maximum of 20 during camp before dwindling down their rosters to 15 by opening night.

If Zeisloft is left off the opening night roster, he will be assigned to play for the Pacers Developmental League team the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
