IU sophomore goalie Noëlle Rother earned the Defensive Player of the Week award Tuesday for the second week in a row.
Rother registered seven saves in the Hoosiers’ 1-0 road victory over a No. 12 Michigan Friday, her sixth career shutout and the first time in 10 years IU has defeated a ranked opponent away from home.
Rother also made nine saves against Michigan State on Sunday, however IU came up short and lost 1-0.
Over the past two weekends, Rother has accumulated 35 saves in four games and so far this season leads the Big Ten Conference in saves with 91.
This is the third time in her career that Rother has received the award. Her first came last season on Sept. 29 after strong performances in two IU wins against ranked opponents at home.
Up next for Rother and her IU teammates is an Oct. 21 matchup with Ohio State at the IU Field Hockey Complex for IU’s Senior Day. The Hoosiers then close out the regular season on the road at Penn State and Syracuse.
