While the IU men’s soccer team has been excelling on the field this season, they have done so in the classroom as well.
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has recognized IU Coach Todd Yeagley’s squad as a team receiving the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2015-16 school year. To qualify for the award, the team must attain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year.
The Hoosiers have earned the team honor in four of the past five seasons under academic advisor Eileen O’Rourke and it is the sixth time (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016) in program history IU has received the award.
IU was one of 315 men’s teams in the country to have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award its performance with academics. Furthermore, IU was one of 221 schools to receive honors for both the men’s and women’s teams. In total, 892 men’s and women’s teams received the honor.
The NSCAA is a non-profit organization with the mission of advocating for, educating and serving soccer coaches to encourage excellence and elevate the game. The organization also comes out with weekly rankings for both men’s and women’s soccer throughout the season.
