Since Timothy Poteat's arrest on Tuesday, a new complaint has been reported about his behavior. Two sisters, eight and seven years old, reported to their mother on Wednesday Poteat had earlier this month attempted to take pictures of them with a small camera while they were riding his bus, number 44.
Seifers said BPD is encouraging any parents whose children ride bus 44 on their way to Fairview Elementary School to contact the police if their children report anything unusual.
Police also discovered and confiscated six phones, two computers, seven external hard drives and several thumb drives which BPD still has to go through.
When Poteat's bus route was done, he was called into the transportation office and was charged by police at approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Police charged Timothy Poteat, a bus driver for Monroe County Community School Corporation, with child exploitation Tuesday.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children gave Bloomington police a tip Oct. 11 that Poteat, 43, possibly had electronic images of child pornography in his possession.
BPD Lt. Brad Seifers said this led to an investigation, and on Oct. 18, BPD executed a search warrant at Poteat’s house on Miller Drive. At the time of the search, Poteat was at work.
Seifers said the evidence was enough to charge him with child exploitation, but police were still reviewing the information on the electronics. BPD have traced the electronic signature of the child pornography to Poteat’s residence.
