IU announced Friday the signing of eight players to its 2017 recruiting class, including four in-state prospects, three from Arizona and one from Illinois.
Infielders Karly Combs and Riley Hecklinski, as well as pitcher Emily Goodin and outfielder Makayla Ferrari, make up the four Indiana natives who will play for the Hoosiers.
Outfielder Taylor Lambert, catcher Maddie Westmoreland and infielder Annika Baez all come to the Hoosiers from Arizona. Outfielder and Glenview, Illinois native Carolyn Kuhn rounds out the recruiting class for IU Coach Michelle Gardner.
With only four current seniors on IU’s roster for the upcoming 2017 campaign set to begin in February, the eight signees mean IU’s roster could expand next season, barring transfers.
“Our program is so excited to welcome this next class of Hoosiers,” Gardner said in a release. “This is a great group of eight kids who can have an immediate impact on a program that is truly on the rise. Each one offers a different set of skills and brings a lot to Indiana, both on and off the field.”
