Junior forward Amanda Cahill was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday after a dominant performance at the Florida Sunshine Classic that saw her average 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.
Cahill contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds in an important win over Florida on Tuesday before reaching 1,000 career points in a win over Stony Brook on Wednesday.
It is the first player of the week honor for the Ohio native, and she is the first Hoosier to take home the award since then-sophomore guard Tyra Buss was honored last January.
With Buss's selection for player of the week last season and Cahill's current selection, IU has garnered player of the week awards in back-to-back years for the first time since the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.
Cahill is averaging 13.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season. IU recently wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a 10-3 record, and begins Big Ten play at Penn State on Wednesday night.
