Dan Feeney earns AP All-America honor

Senior lineman Dan Feeney greets his teammates as he joins warmups on Saturday before IU's game against Northwestern at Ryan Field.

Senior guard Dan Feeney earned his second consecutive First Team All-American honor, the Associated Press announced Monday afternoon.

Feeney is the third Hoosier in program history to earn back-to-back All-America honors and just the fourth to earn the honor twice in a career.

The fifth-year senior missed a large part of the 2016 season after suffering a concussion which, kept him sidelined for the beginning of Big Ten play.

In compensation for two injuries at right tackle, Feeney transitioned to right tackle for the first time in his collegiate career, where he allowed just the second sack of his career.

In his 30 quarters of production this season, Feeney has allowed one sack and has knocked down 51 defenders in 559 snaps. The All-American has recorded a total of 3,278 snaps in his career.

ESPN ranked the senior as the 37th-best player in the nation before the 2016 season started, and he is projected to be drafted within the first two rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft.
