The College Water Polo Association named junior IU defender Kelly Matthews player of the week for her performance at last weekend's Santa Barbara Winter Invite. Matthews helped lead IU to a 3-2 record to start off its season, including a win over No. 6 Hawaii.

Matthews managed to score five goals against Hawaii, including two in the fourth quarter where the Hoosiers pulled away from the Rainbow Warriors en route to an 8-5 win.

The CWPA also announced honorable mention awards for two other IU players. Freshman 2-Meter Mollie Williams and junior goaltender Jessica Gaudreault were recognized after Williams scored seven goals in five games over the weekend and Gaudreault only let 23 shots get past her in four games, excluding the 20-5 loss against No. 3 UCLA.

The Hoosiers will be back in action on February 4 when they travel to Providence, Rhode Island to take on four teams at the Bruno Classic.
