Police arrested a 17-year-old Saturday after he allegedly threatened a neighbor with a knife.
The teen is charged with felony intimidation. Because he is a juvenile, police have not released his name.
Police responded at about 4:50 p.m. to the 100 block of South Kimble Drive after a call from the neighbor who had allegedly been threatened, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Cody Forston said.
The neighbor, a 37-year-old man, told police he and the teenager had been arguing about a theft that occurred about a year ago. After the argument, the 37-year-old went inside his trailer home to make a phone call. While inside, he noticed the teenager, now joined by a woman, standing on his property.
He went outside to confront them, Forston said. When he did, the teenager said he’d slit the neighbor’s wife’s throat and pulled a knife from his pocket. The neighbor went back inside.
When police arrived, the teenager told them the neighbor had confronted him about a theft and said he feared for his safety and that of his siblings. He got the knife to defend himself, but he denied threatening to slit the neighbor’s wife’s throat, he said.
Officers detained the teenager and contacted juvenile probation.
