Police have increased patrols in the area of West 13th Street after a teenage girl reported Monday she'd been chased on the street by an older man.
Officers responded just before 10 p.m. to the 1300 block of West 13th Street, where they found the 16-year-old crying and being consoled by three other people, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Dana Cole said. The teen told police she'd left that same block earlier that night to walk back to her residence a few blocks away.
As she approached the intersection of 13th Street and Summit Street, a white man, who the girl described as being in his late 30s and wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans, said "hey" to her.
She turned her back and started to walk back to the residence on 13th Street.
"Hey, where are you going?" the man said to her.
She began to run, and he chased her. By the time she made it to the 13th Street residence, the man had disappeared.
She also told police she'd seen another man, also in his late 30s and wearing a suit with a brown jacket, but she didn't know if he was with the man who had chased her.
The girl's mother arrived and took her home, Cole said. Police could not locate either of the men.
