Delivery driver assaulted while trying to remove dancing partygoer from car

Region Filler

A delivery driver was knocked to the ground and struck in the back Saturday afternoon after he tried to remove a dancing reveler from the hood of his car.

The driver told police he had been making a delivery at about 4:50 p.m. to the 1300 block of North Lincoln Street, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. George Connolly said. While the driver was inside his car, someone jumped on the hood and began dancing.

The driver got out of the car and tried to pull the dancer off, he told police. When he did, someone else grabbed him from behind and forced him to the ground. While he was on the ground, he was struck in the back.

The assailants fled into a group of people at a nearby party, Connolly said.
