Heroin not involved in collapse of man at Peoples Park, police say

Region Filler

A 54-year-old transient man who was taken by ambulance Thursday from Peoples Park had an extensive medical history and had smoked spice, or synthetic marijuana, before his collapse, Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams said. Heroin is not believed to have been involved.

The incident occurred at about 3:25 p.m. and caused the temporary closure of East Kirkwood Avenue and North Dunn Street. Kellams said the last notification he received, at about 6 p.m. Thursday, said the man had been revived at the hospital, but he cautioned he had not been updated since then.
