A 74-year-old man is out an estimated $6,000 after he found that a 25-gallon metal milk jug he used to store change had been emptied.
The man believes the theft occurred sometime in the past three weeks, while he was in the process of moving to a new home, Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams said.
During the man's move from his old home on the 2400 block of South Walnut Street, one of the people helping him move told him that the jug, which had previously been full, had no change in it. Last time the man cashed in the jug, the coins inside totaled $6,000, he told police.
The case is under investigation.
