Flyers spark conversation over Jordan Hall's controversial namesake
After students and faculty members found slips of papers with #renameJordan and #decolonizeIU, the biology department started talking. David Starr Jordan, a former president of IU from 1884 to 1891, was a supporter of eugenics and sterilizing those who he said were unworthy in the gene pool. Theater department chair says Ph.D. elimination won't be immediate
Although the Ph.D. program in theater will be discontinued, the College of Arts and Science’s decision to eliminate the Ph.D. program in theatre history, theory and literature will not happen immediately, according to a Nov. 15 announcement by Jonathan Michaelsen, Chair of the Department of Theatre, Drama and Contemporary Dance.
