DNA evidence connect Glazebrook to sexual assault victim

This story is part of continued coverage of Vaylan Glazebrook's trial for charges of rape and attempted murder. To read previous coverage, click here and here.

DNA swabbed from Vaylan Glazebrook’s penis in November 2014 matched a DNA sample from an IU student who reported being raped at that time by an armed intruder.

This testimony came from a DNA expert during the third day of testimony in Glazebrook’s trial for 15 felony charges, including seven counts of rape and one count of attempted murder.

In addition to a DNA expert, sexual assault nurses who examined the two victims in the case testified, as did a gun expert.

The jury trial will continue at 9 a.m. Friday with the presentation of final evidence. The trial should conclude Friday, and the jury is expected to go into deliberation unless a key witness is still sick.

The witness was scheduled to testify Thursday but was too ill. If the witness cannot testify Friday, the trial will be continued until at least Tuesday, because Monday is Presidents' Day.
