IU student tells police she thinks she was drugged at Pi Kappa Phi

An 18-year-old IU student told the IU Police Department she thinks she was drugged Thursday night at the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house.

She and a friend called IUPD around 1:30 a.m. Friday from McNutt Quad.

The woman reported she had one mixed drink from a five-gallon cooler at the house. She told officers she did not know what was in the drink.

She reported feeling more impaired than she thought she should have felt after the one drink at the house.

IUPD Capt. Craig Munroe said the woman’s blood alcohol content was 0.08 percent when officers tested it. This number came from a breathalyzer test done early Friday morning.

The woman and one of her friends told police they started drinking around 10 p.m. Thursday before going to the Pi Kappa Phi house.

Munroe said the case is not being investigated further because the woman refused to go to the hospital or take a blood test, so there is not enough evidence to proceed.

The fraternity chapter declined to comment on the matter.

Pi Kappa Phi is already on disciplinary probation until August for alcohol, drugs and noncompliance with the University's Greek Organization Agreement. The fraternity is also on disciplinary probation until November for alcohol, endangering others and noncompliance with the agreement.
