Police identified the Bloomington Fire Department captain who is accused of child solicitation and sexual misconduct through an investigation of another man, 19-year-old Dylan Jacobs.
Jacobs was arrested Tuesday evening.
He came to the attention of police after a 14-year-old girl told a teacher’s aide about her new relationship. The aide suspected she was talking about Jacobs and reported the relationship to the school administration on March 27.
The 14-year-old told police she met Jacobs on Whisper, the social media app where she also met firefighter Robert Sears.
She reported she had sex with Jacobs to an interviewer at Susie’s Place, a child advocacy center.
Jacobs told detectives he met the girl in February and admitted to having sex with her in early March. He also reported the two had oral sex on a separate occasion.
Jacobs told officers he was aware of the girl’s age.
Bloomington Police Department officers located Jacobs at his apartment on West Milieu Drive on Tuesday. He was charged with two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
The 14-year-old also started communicating with the fire captain in February.
Sears was arrested on March 30.
