Modest Mouse will perform at IU Auditorium on Friday, October 19. Tickets start at $35 and go on sale August 24.
Modest Mouse was founded in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, but didn’t release its first album until 1996, “This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About.” Its 2007 album, “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank,” reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and U.S. CMJ Radio 200 charts.
According to the IU Auditorium event page, Modest Mouse has become the indie gold standard over the past two decades, being one of the few bands capable of achieving massive popularity without sacrificing their longtime fans.
Some of the band’s songs include “Float On,” with over 135 million plays on Spotify, and “Dashboard,” with over 36 million plays.
The music video for “Float On” was nominated for Breakthrough Video at the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards. Its album “Good News For People Who Love Bad News” was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2004 Grammy Awards.
“Float On” was also a featured track on the 2008 video game Guitar Hero World Tour.
