Employees of First Christian Church on Kirkwood Avenue found the word “vain” written in purple spray paint on the church Monday.
A Bloomington Police Department officer said he saw the same word painted on the Monroe County History Center on East 6th Street, about a block from the church.
Police said the graffiti tag was painted on a door at the northeast corner of the church and on the wall of a nearby alley. Employees said they suspect it happened sometime between 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday.
This case is under investigation.
