A woman reported to Bloomington Police on Friday her license plate was stolen off her white 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, but she soon learned police already had possession of the stolen plate.
BPD Sgt. Robert Skelton said when police looked at the stolen license plate report, they were able to link the plate to a traffic stop made earlier in the week.
During the traffic stop, a 27-year-old male, who was driving his own white 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, was arrested with the stolen plate on his car.
The man was arrested on warrants, according to Skelton.
Police were then able to recover the woman’s license plate from the impound lot.
