Man silently robs Americas Best Value Inn

A man robbed the America's Best Value Inn Bloomington around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning, Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams said.

The man, who was wearing a black hoodie and black jeans, entered the lobby and silently walked behind the counter. After he emptied the cash register, a clerk tried to chase after him. The clerk told police that the man pushed her down. She said the man then tried to spray her with a can of what looked like pepper spray, but nothing came out.

The man then ran out of the lobby, and the clerk chased after him, according to the police report. She yelled at people outside to stop the man, and then she saw him trip, dropping his wallet along with most of the money he had taken.

Police are currently looking for the suspect. The clerk told police he is an approximately 130-pound 6-foot black male and said she believes he was staying at the inn prior to the robbery.
