A 17-year-old Bloomington High School North student is accused of stabbing his friend in the leg earlier this month while the two were in band class.
The boy told police he stabbed his friend, also 17, with his pocket knife Oct. 10 because the friend wouldn’t stop playing sad music that reminded him of an incident in his life.
Police were notified Friday after a family doctor noticed the boy who was stabbed was limping and discovered the injury. Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Robert Skelton said the boy needed stitches.
The injured boy told police he didn’t report the stabbing because he didn’t want to get his friend in trouble.
The accused was sent to the Southwest Indiana Regional Youth Village detention center on the preliminary felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon.
