The IU women’s golf team will close out 2018 with the inaugural Alexa Stirling Women's Intercollegiate this weekend in Atlanta.
The tournament, formerly known as the Ladies Fall Intercollegiate, holds a junior clinic Thursday evening and then kicks off Friday morning at the Atlanta Athletic Club. The tournament will play through Sunday afternoon.
It will be the fourth full-team tournament of the fall for the Hoosiers.
The tournament will consist of an 11-team field, mostly featuring East Coast teams. IU will see some familiar faces on the course such as reigning tournament champion Kennesaw State, East Carolina and Mercer University, who had all played in tournaments against IU earlier in the season.
The Hoosiers are coming off a 10th-place finish out of 15 teams at the Illinois Women's Invite Oct. 9. IU has had multiple players step up throughout the fall and lead the team.
But the Hoosiers are yet to have multiple team members click in the same tournament.
With the smallest field of any tournament they have played in this year, the Hoosiers have a chance to earn their third top-10 finish or better this season.
