On Oct. 2, IU Coach Tom Allen said on his weekly teleconference sophomore running back Morgan Ellison has returned to practicing with the team but remains suspended indefinitely.
It is unclear whether Ellison will be cleared to play in games for IU, or when that decision will be made.
Neither Allen, nor IU athletic director Fred Glass, have discussed specifics related to Ellison's suspension.
“The bottom line is that he’s been allowed to be with our team recently,” Allen said during the teleconference. “We still have no answer for his game opportunities, but he’s been allowed to be around us on a consistent basis now, which has helped. But we still don’t know the long-term future yet."
Ellison was suspended indefinitely on Aug. 24, according to an IU athletics release.
Ellison, who was looking to top IU's depth chart at running back, is coming off a freshman season in which he led the team in rushing with 704 yards on 143 attempts.
Additionally, he was a two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week recipient and was named IU’s Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
