A 2-year-old boy was killed in a Bloomington house fire Sunday, the Monroe County coroner confirmed. Two adults and four other children survived the fire.
The fire caused significant damage to the inside of the South Tyler Lane home, a spokesperson for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security said. There were no working smoke alarms inside the house.
The spokesperson also said the fire department investigating the case doesn't suspect foul play.
Ed Terrell, Van Buren Township Fire Department's deputy chief, said his department is currently assisting the Indiana State Fire Marshal to find the cause of the fire.
Monroe County coroner Joani Shields said she suspects the deceased to be Kenneth Lane Jr. but can’t positively identify him without a DNA test, per state law.
A GoFundMe was set up to help pay for funeral costs.
