The Bloomington community became immersed in the art of zine-making during Zine Day on Jan. 19 at the Monroe County Public Library.
The library organized the event after receiving a collection of zines from Boxcar Books. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, zines are defined as noncommercial publications that specialize in unconventional topics.
Boxcar Books announced its closure in late 2017, citing declining sales, rising rent and continuous construction in downtown Bloomington.
