Former IU running back Morgan Ellison transferring

Then-freshman running back Morgan Ellison avoids being tackled during the first half against Wisconsin on Nov. 4, 2017, at Memorial Stadium. Ellison released a statement on Twitter stating that he was falsely accused of sexual assault.

Former IU running back Morgan Ellison announced Monday night on Twitter that he is transferring to Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas.

Ellison was dismissed from the IU program in October after a university sexual-misconduct panel found him guilty of sexually assaulting another student.

ICC Head Coach Jason Brown is no stranger to rehabilitating the careers of major conference football players with varying degrees of disciplinary and academic issues.

Last year’s ICC roster included former Florida State University quarterback Malik Henry, former Texas Tech University wide receiver Carlos Thompson, former Texas A&M University running back Rakeem Boyd and former Michigan running back Kingston Davis.

Brown’s program was featured on the latest season of Netflix’s critically acclaimed show “Last Chance U.”

Ellison was named an honorable mention BTN.com Big Ten All-Freshman in 2017 after rushing for 704 yards and six touchdowns. He ranked 10th nationally among freshman running backs for yardage.
