The IU Wind Ensemble will perform its first concert of the semester at 8 p.m. Feb. 5 in the Musical Arts Center. There will be a reprise at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Center for the Performing Arts Palladium in Carmel, Ind.
The Wind Ensemble will be conducted by Jacobs School of Music professors Rodney Dorsey and Eric Smedley. The ensemble is made up of undergraduate and graduate students.
The concert will showcase five pieces and feature a euphonium solo, performed by Demondrae Thurman, professor of music in euphonium. The repertoire consists of five new pieces, “Awayday,” "La création du monde," “AMEN!,” “Passacaglia,” as well as a 24-minute Euphonium concerto written for Thurman.
The Wind Ensemble has performed at many national and international venues, such as Carnegie Hall and the Japan Bandmasters Association convention.
