Some East Dodds Street, South Walnut Street and South Washington Street residents are under a precautionary boil water advisory after being disconnected from water while a water main break was being repaired Sunday. The precautionary advisory is slated to end at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
A boil water advisory for public water systems is required by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management when a water main’s pressure drops below standard limits.
The 19 residents affected by the break are advised to immediately run cold water from a sink or tub until the water from the faucet is clear once water pressure is normal again.
It also advises boiling water for five minutes before using it to cook, drink or brush your teeth.
