Delivery driver’s car stolen Wednesday while he attempted to drop off pizza

A pizza delivery driver’s 2005 Gold Hyundai Elantra was stolen Wednesday at Acadia Court while he was trying to deliver a pizza.

The man told police his keys were in the ignition and he left the engine on after exiting to make the delivery.

Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo said the man knocked on the door the pizza was addressed to and got no response. Then he heard the manual transmission of his car grinding and the tires screeching. He walked back in the direction of his vehicle and saw it being stolen.

Pedigo said police could not locate the car in the area. He does not think the man ever delivered the pizza.

Pedigo said he wonders if the suspect called in the pizza to a false address knowing the driver would most likely leave the car running.

This is an active investigation.
