Liquid dripping from trash truck, thought to be blood, found to be from food containers

The driver of a trash truck contacted Bloomington police Wednesday morning after seeing a red liquid dripping out of his truck near College Mall Apartments and being concerned it was blood.

The liquid was confirmed to be liquid from food containers by Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo in a press release. No human or animal bodies were found in the truck.

After Bloomington police responded to the call around 8:40 a.m., the scene was taped off and photographed by officers. Pedigo said officers followed the trash truck to a nearby facility where the truck was unloaded to see what the source of the liquid was.

Pedigo said multiple food containers were located inside, but no human bodies or animals were found. The red liquid is believed to have originated from the food containers.
