Basketball season is right around the corner, and with it came a slew of positive preseason rankings for IU women’s basketball.
The Big Ten released its annual preseason polls Monday afternoon, and the Hoosiers were held in high regard, landing at third in the coaches poll and fourth in the media poll as they return four starters and ten total.
Redshirt junior guard Ali Patberg got plenty of recognition as well, being named to the preseason All-Big Ten team by both the coaches and media. Patberg averaged 15.8 points and a team high 4.8 assists per game last season.
Patberg also received national attention Monday, being named to the Nancy Lieberman Preseason Award Watch List. The award is given annually to the top women’s Division I point guard in the country. Patberg, from Columbus, Indiana, is the only Big Ten representative on the list.
