IU inched further up the rankings in the latest women’s basketball AP Top 25 poll, coming in at No. 12 in this week's rankings.
The move comes on the heels of a 2-0 week that saw IU defeat then-No. 21 University of Miami 58-45 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday, and the University of North Florida 72-45 from Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday.
The Hoosiers received breakout performances from star junior guard Jaelynn Penn and senior forward Brenna Wise.
Penn posted a season-high 17 points Wednesday against the Hurricanes, while Wise set her season high Saturday with 22 points against the Ospreys.
This is now the fifth consecutive week the Hoosiers have improved their ranking in the AP poll, and the sixth consecutive week that they have been ranked in it, dating back to the initial preseason poll.
The new ranking at 12th is the highest in program history, surpassing the mark set in last week’s poll of 14th. The Hoosiers are also now the highest ranked team in the Big Ten.
IU returns to the road for their next game, a brief road trip to Indianapolis to face Butler University at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
