Two reports of arson on campus in same week

Two separate on-campus reports of arson have been reported to Indiana University Police Department this week, according to a crime notice email.

A custodian found a pizza box smoldering on top of a trash can at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in Hodge Hall. The custodian put out the fire with a cup of water. There was no damage to the trash can.

A student using the bathroom found a fire in a trash can at 11:43 a.m. Thursday in the Psychology Building. They do not know the source of that fire. The fire alarm was never activated in this incident.

The police are investigating both as crimes. They have no suspects at this time.

IUPD issued the notice because of the type of crime and the on-campus locations.
