IU left tackle Coy Cronk to transfer to Iowa

Former IU left tackle and team captain Coy Cronk will transfer to Iowa, according to multiple reports. Cronk appeared in the university’s student directory on Wednesday.

During his four seasons in Bloomington, Cronk started 40 games for the Hoosiers. He opened the 2019 season as starting left tackle before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in a game against the University of Connecticut on Sept. 9.

After his injury, IU head coach Tom Allen said Cronk remained involved with team activities and helped mentor freshman left tackle Matthew Bedford.

Cronk is expected to replace Iowa's All-Big Ten tackle Tristan Wirfs, who recently declared for the NFL draft.

During a press conference on Monday, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz discussed the possibility of the Hawkeyes adding a transfer to their roster.

“Anything we can do to help our football team — as long as it fits,” Ferentz said. “It’s got to fit.”

Despite staying within the Big Ten, Cronk won’t face IU in his final collegiate season since Iowa does not appear on the Hoosiers' schedule.
