IU senior wide receiver Whop Philyor was named to the 2020 Biletnikoff Award preseason watchlist, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc. announced Thursday.
The award annually recognizes college football’s most outstanding receiver. Philyor enters the upcoming season with 126 career catches, 1,572 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
Philyor, who is from Tampa, Florida, is the IU football program’s all-time leader in double-figure catch games with five and became the 13th Hoosier to reach 125 catches and 1,500 yards last year. Philyor was also named to the watchlist last season.
After recording 70 receptions, 1,002 yards and five touchdowns in 2019, Philyor earned second team All-Big Ten honors and was named IU’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year.
Philyor was one of 10 FBS players to record 10 or more catches in three games last year, which set an IU football single-season record. He finished third in the Big Ten in receptions and fourth in receiving yards.
