For students taking all online classes and not in Bloomington, IU is offering a discount on the Combined Mandatory fee

Students can petition to receive the discount if they are not enrolled in any courses that have an in-person class meeting. Petitions must be submitted by Sept. 20. If accepted, discounts will be added to students’ bursar accounts before Sept. 10, the first due date of the fall semester.

To receive the discount, students cannot be located in Bloomington during the semester unless Bloomington is their permanent residence. They also cannot be enrolled in any classes with instruction modes of “P - in person” or “HY - Hybrid - On Campus & Online.”

The Combined Mandatory fee pays for access to services such as the Student Recreational Sports Center, campus buses, and in-person visits to the Student Health Center. The fee is based on the number of credit hours a student is enrolled in.

The discount also does not apply to tuition. Tuition will not be discounted for the fall semester.
