Trey Kaufman, the nation’s No. 41 ranked recruit, according to 247Sports, announced his commitment to Purdue over IU on Friday night.
Kaufman is a four-star recruit and is the second-ranked player in the state of Indiana. The Sellersburg, Indiana, native also had the University of North Carolina, University of Virginia and Clemson University in his top five.
As a junior, Kaufman won Indiana’s Gatorade Player of the Year award while averaging 25.8 points per game, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 blocks at Silver Creek High School.
He led Silver Creek to a 25-2 record last season and a sectional championship before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a sophomore, he helped lead Silver Creek to a 3A Indiana state championship.
Kaufman was a top priority for head coach Archie Miller and his staff, being recruited by the Hoosiers since his freshman year.
