Two city employees, one with the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department and another with the Bloomington Sanitation Division, tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, according to a press release from the city.
The announcements come two days after four Bloomington Police Department dispatch workers and one Sanitation Division employee tested positive earlier this week. The total number of city employee cases since March is now 24. Seven of those cases — about a third of the total number — occurred this week.
No members of the public have been in close contact with either employee within two days of their positive test results, but co-workers who were in close contact with the sanitation worker have been informed.
Both employees are currently self-isolating and were not experiencing symptoms as of Wednesday evening. All cleaning protocols to disinfect equipment, vehicles and facilities have been taken.
