Bloomington Police Department officers found a 51-year-old man Thursday morning who was presumed to be dead at Seminary Park, according to a press release from Capt. Ryan Pedigo.
BPD has not yet released the man’s identity. Police responded to requests for a welfare check on the man after several people at the park asked a bystander to call 911, according to the release. They found the man lying on the ground. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
Several people told police they had offered to help the man find services or offered him a place to stay Wednesday. The man declined and slept in the park that night.
People at the park also told police they had spoken to the man earlier that morning and were not concerned for his well-being, according to the release. BPD officers checked on the man once Wednesday night and twice Thursday morning. According to the release, the man refused help from officers and appeared to be sleeping.
Investigators did not find signs of foul play, according to the release.
